AZL Z Scale SD70 Locomotives. The SD70 locomotive was first built in 1992 and continues to be used today. Built by EMD, the standard SD70 has a standard cab and looks almost identical to the earlier SD60 locomotive. Later versions of the SD70 locomotive featured different cabs and other updates including larger horse power ratings. AZL has reproduced this railroad standard in z scale and is adding road names and numbers as they go. A total of 122 of these were built for Norfolk Southern, Conrail, Illinois Central, CSX, Southern Peru Copper and Canadian National. You find more on the SD70 prototypes here. Features of AZL Z Scale SD70 locomotive include directional lighting, powerful can motor, auto latch couplers, brass handrails, traction tires, separately applied details, prototype specific details and easily upgrades to DCC.
